“It was sad when that great ship went down.” The story of the Titanic has been the stuff of song and legend for over a century. Only in recent years have we learned of the real cause of its destruction -- not the iceberg, but the inferior rivets. There were great acts of heroism, horrific acts of cowardice, plenty of lifeboats that were never used, and a great love scene at the bow of the ship.
