I was talking to a priest-friend of mine, who told me of leaving an unpleasant assignment, where the parties involved, in the process of making life difficult for him, only ended up making each other miserable. I asked him who it was who once said that hell would be like that, and he told me it was Sartre.
Come to think of it, the cartoon would be a bit of a stretch, wouldn't it?

Hmmmm. I don't recall a car wash, exactly... my recollection is a bit fuzzy. Was it No Catnip?
It's like this, Theo.

That is to say, they only ended up making life difficult for each other, and NOT for him.
Still a stretch though, eh?
