Art-For-Art’s-Sake Theatre: Let’s Face the Music and Dance

This year (and with this entry), we embark on a new theme for our regular midday Wednesday feature. Art-For-Art’s-Sake Theatre will focus on short clips of film, video, animation, and performance, much like Classic Arts Showcase on some cable systems.

In this clip, Robert Palmer sings a masterpiece written by Irving Berlin for the movie Follow The Fleet. The audio was recorded at Ritz, NYC, June 1983, during the Pride tour, and naturally features the incomparable pair, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, from all of their 9 films in 1930s, choreographed by Hermes Pan - Flying Down To Rio (1933), The Gay Divorcee (1934), Roberta (1935), Top Hat (1935), Follow The Fleet (1936), Swing Time (1936), Shall We Dance (1937), Carefree (1938), and The Story Of Vernon And Irene Castle (1939).
