...and with summer here, and school almost out, it's time to start thinking about getting the "new" house looking more presentable. Be afraid, be very afraid!
You mentioned it's time to start thinking about getting the "new" house looking more presentable. Based on my experience as a homeowner nigh these past 12-13 years, I can attest that it's ALWAYS time to take care of something at the ol' homestead.
Grass, painting, windows, new shed for the yard, etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum. As Gilda Radner (R.I.P.) was known to espouse as as one of her TV characters, "there's always something."
However, I have to admit that I'd rather be faced with the seemingly endless servile work that accompanies home ownership than not.
