Michael, row the h@#$ outa here!

If this country learned anything at all from the war in Vietnam, it was that any commitment of American troops overseas, for whatever reason, must be completely resolute and with every determination of completing the objective, the sooner the better. The only other viable alternative, is to get out, and STAY out! Anything resembling a middle course is a waste of time, money, and most important, American lives.

The chairman of the Republican National Committee, after a somewhat promising start on the national scene despite an unsuccessful run for the Senate, has fallen ill with a terminal case of foot-in-mouth disease, from which there appears to be no cure. ... coupled with lackluster performance in fundraising, as well as numerous instances of mismanagement within the RNC, were the last straw for both political analyst Bill Kristol, and up-and-coming national security analyst Liz Cheney.

RNC Chairman Michael Steele’s comments about the war in Afghanistan were deeply disappointing and wrong. The chairman of the Republican party must be unwavering in his support for American victory in the war on terror — a victory that cannot be accomplished if we do not prevail in Afghanistan. I endorse fully Bill Kristol’s letter to Chairman Steele. It is time for Chairman Steele to step down.

This year represents a defining moment for those who would challenge the tax-and-spend status quo on the Hill, and restore a truly representative legislature, one that does not pass measures which the majority of Americans clearly do not want. The arrogance displayed by certain members of Congress at the sham performances, masquerading as "town hall meetings" must be stopped. Many of them can be run out of office this November, if viable challengers can be supported by aggressive fundraising and strategic planning. This cannot be accomplished by a political apparatus torn from within.

Michael Steele may yet be of great service to his cause. But first, he needs to get a serious grip on himself, or he is no good to anyone. The most noble, selfless act that Steele could perform, for the ideals he purports to espouse, for the Nation he truly loves, and for whatever good name he has left, is to resign as Chairman of the RNC. Not after the midterm elections, not next month, not next week, but NOW!
