In short(s), on Friday night Congressman Anthony Weiner, or a hacker, sent a picture of a male erection shielded by underwear to a college student in Washington named Gennette Nicole Cordova. Mr. Weiner and Ms. Cordova both “follow” each other using the popular social networking site Twitter. Twitter users can follow whomever they like, but in order for contact to take place outside of the public eye, both users must be following each other. That was the case for Weiner and Cordova ...
Congressman Anthony Weiner (D-NY) has become a victim of one of two things.
The first possibility is that his Twitter account was indeed hijacked. It is not unusual for a public figure to follow someone on Twitter whom they don't otherwise know, and vice versa. It is possible that someone hacked into his account.
The second possibility is that he did send it, either by accident (hitting the wrong key to send something happens to a lot of us, just not over something this ... well, you know), or deliberately.
So, which one is it? We can't say for sure, but here's what we can say. For a guy with nothing to say, he has been in front of microphone enough times in the last few days, with a lot to say about how he has nothing to say. On top of that, he refuses to call for an investigation by the Capitol Police, or the FBI, either of whom would have jurisdiction here. No member of Congress ever lost any sleep spending taxpayers money, to get to the bottom of anything when it's all about them.
Which means he doesn't want them to. Which makes him either a liar, a fool, or both, don't you think?
Or don't you?
UPDATE 1: Sister Toldjah examines the big picture, and the extent of irresponsible handling of this matter.
UPDATE 2: Allahpundit of HotAir.com has the continuous updates of the day. Weiner admits to "inappropriate" correspondence, but won't resign. Members of his own party are calling for an ethics probe. Another one under the bus! Stay tuned ...
