FAMW: “Girls just wanna have ...”

On this date in 1912, the Girl Guides of America, later incorporated as the Girl Scouts of the USA, was founded. And who better than Wikipedia to tell the tale:

While in the UK, [Juliette Gordon "Daisy" Low] worked as a Girl Guide leader for troops she organized in Scotland and London. On returning to America in 1912, Juliette placed her historic telephone call to her cousin, Nina Pape: "Come right over! I've got something for the girls of Savannah, and all of America, and all the world, and we're going to start it tonight!" On March 12, 1912, Juliette gathered 18 girls to register the first troop ...

I buy Girl Scout cookies every year. It's just about the only thing they do better than the Boy Scouts, whose best-known annual fund-raising device is popcorn. If you're a Scoutmaster, there's no middle ground; you either love it or you hate it. I've got the same can I bought five years ago. Fortunately, I'm not stockpiling it in my garage. (Oh yes. It can happen.)
