This photo is from the "Youth Day" liturgy of the recent Los Angeles Religious Education Congress, the annual shindig of the progressive Catholic intelligensia, under the watchful jurisdiction of His Immenseness Roger Cardinal Mahony. The assembly is obstensibly joining the clergy in extending a "blessing" to someone for something or other.

Impressive. Just as the Mistery of the Church, is impressive to say the least.
My first impression (as if takinga Rohrschoch [sp?]test): looks like one of those Sun Yung Moon gatherings from the '80s.
I'm starting to notice that a lot of Catholics this year are doing the raised arm thing. What IS up with that? Don't these poor things realize how much it looks like Germany 1936?
